We Have Every Reason

from One Thing by the weak & the few

/

about

"We Have Every Reason" is adapted from William Cowper's hymn "O Lord, I Will Praise Thee" which is part of the "Olney Hymns" collection by John Newton, and William Cowper. Musical composition/arrangement and additional lyrics added by Dave Campbell.

It is drawn from Isaiah 7:1 and is an encouragement that we never need fear the anger of Lord because of Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. Now, let the nations "roll it 'round".

lyrics

VERSE 1
I will praise You every day
Now Your anger's turned away
Comforting thoughts arise
From Your bleeding sacrifice

VERSE 2
Resting in the gospel field
Wells of salvation freely yield
Streams of life abundant store
And my soul shall thirst no more

CHORUS
We have every reason
To praise His glorious name
His worth is far greater
Than any praise we can bring
Raise again the joyful sound
Let the nations roll it ‘round
We have every reason
To praise His glorious name

VERSE 3
Jesus went the greatest lengths
To become my saving strength
Came from heaven to the grave
My ransomed soul He came to save
